Chief Ayo Adebanjo, a chieftain of Afenifere said
the minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed and the special
adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, were not
being sincere in their communication of President Muhammdu Buhari’s
health status.
In an interview with The Punch,
he said using the phrase “hale and hearty” for the president who
travelled to the UK on a 10-day leave and later asked for an extension,
shows that something is not right.
Adebanjo said nobody wants Buhari dead but his
aides were not telling Nigerians the truth, saying they were taking the
people for a ride and talking balderdash.
According to him, falling sick is natural so he
wondered why they were finding it hard to tell the people what is wrong
with the president instead of raising hope that there is nothing wrong
and yet the president cannot resume.
He said: “From
their evidence, both Lai Mohammed and the Femi Adesina are talking
nonsense. One said the President is sick. Mohammed said he is hale and
hearty. Yet when the time came for him to resume, he didn’t.
